SYROIL 2006 brought together 259 companies, representing 42 countries covering a gross area of 15,000 m2. Over 7800 visitors attended the exhibitions and the seminars held on–site. Their expertise varied from Senior Petroleum Engineers and Managers Reservoirs Engineers, Drilling Managers, Geologists and Geophysicists, Process and Refinery Engineers, Technical Managers, Consultants, Experts, Commercial Managers and Businessmen from all around the region.

Syria is currently witnessing developments both downstream and upstream in this sector. The Ministry of Petroleum & Mineral Resources has granted the exploration of several new blocks and has received new tender offers from both regional and international companies. The Ministry has also approved the construction of a new refinery as well as revamping the old refineries.

This interest in the development of Syria's many untapped fields and in the processing and marketing of oil will be reflected in the number of participants and visitors of this exhibition which is  expected to be highest than all the previous rounds
